| We can
and do regularly print picture discs, but we do not recommend it. Photos need
to be specially calibrated, and even then it is difficult to ensure pleasing results.
It is also impossible to make an accurate proof of how the disc will look when
it is printed. Here are two discs that came out very well. Both of them were manipulated
in Photoshop to reduce the contrast.

of 2 color picture discs, white background plus one Pantone color. |

If you want to print
a picture disc, consider doing a test run of 500 CDs. Here are some more considerations
for printing halftones: - densities paler than 15%
may be lost
- densities greater than 85% may become solid
- the recommended
line screen is 100 lines per inch, giving a coarse looking image
- the density
zone between 65 and 75% are prone to a higher dot gain which leads to a clear
demarcation in gradation
- there is a wide variation in the printing results
depending on the many variables on the press and in screen preparation.
- Use
the silkscreen compensation curve to prepare your
images for film output. If you send us the image, please tell us if you have already
used compensation, for example give it a filename like CDLABEL-withcompensation.tif
