Audio Mastering Tools

Our current primary mastering system consists of Wavelab, Electri-Q EQ, and Kjaerhus MPL-1 Mastering limiter (click for a screen-capture). These make up a very good system for basic editing and mastering, offering good versatility and transparent sound quality.

SADiE Digital Audio Workstation

Our Sadie system is still in use primarily for real-time loading from DAT and CD with digital error monitoring, and transfers to and from 8mm Exabyte tape. Our Sadie system has made many CD masters since 1996 and is still capable of offering a world-class sound quality. The biggest-selling album made on this system was Yanqui U.X.O. (a transfer to CD master).

Our SADiE disk editor offers top pro-audio performance. Here are some of our capabilities with this system:
- 16, 18, 20, & 24 bit support
- PQ codes for CD premastering direct to CD-R or Exabyte
- precise control of fades, crossfades, and levels
- up to 8 clips of audio can play simultaneously
- editing down to the sample
- SMPTE and MIDI synchronisation
- all standard sampling frequencies
- digital compression, expansion, EQ, time-scrunching or stretching, varispeed, noise reduction all in REAL-TIME (or in write-back mode)
- phase correction, inter-channel time correction
- instantaneous and non-destructive editing

Support for higher bit lengths is important when performing multiple stages of digital processing (level, EQ, compression...). Processing on a 16-bit-only system will cause a loss of resolution and sound quality.
